CIG’s This Week in Star Citizen post for October 26, 2026 is a quiet one on the schedule side but busy underneath. Alpha 4.10.3 is on the PTU for Wave 1 testers, a behind-the-scenes video from the Squadron 42 October event is due later in the week, and sign-ups have opened for the Daymar Rally, the community-run race across Daymar that returns on January 23, 2027.
This post also folds in the October 21 Roadmap Roundup, which added one card and closed another, and the loose ends from the October 19 post, including the end of the Twitch Drops campaign.
Alpha 4.10.3 on the PTU
The biggest item is the one with the least fanfare. Alpha 4.10.3 landed on the PTU for Wave 1 testing on October 23. It introduces a Vanduul Incursion mission line in the Nyx system, a new energy rifle and a range of smaller additions and fixes. CIG thanked the testers who have already jumped in and said more waves will open up soon, so Wave 2 and beyond should not be far off. There is no live date yet.
Last week: Day of the Vara, roadmap and 10 From the Community
Day of the Vara, the Halloween event, opened on October 21 with a pumpkin decorating contest, the Festival Kill Collector FPS mode in Arena Commander and the monster paints. It runs to November 9. The same day brought the Roadmap Update and its Roundup.
On Friday the second episode of 10 From the Community went out, with CIG’s chief technology officer and two gameplay engineering directors answering questions about NPC behavior, social tools, UI, ground vehicles and bug regressions. CIG is already collecting questions for a future episode about FPS gameplay; submit and vote in the Spectrum thread if there is something you want answered.
Roadmap Roundup, October 21: one card closed, one added
This roundup was short. The Character Customization Update (Brows) card, which covers three new eyebrow styles and updates to six existing ones, was set to Released in Alpha 4.10.2. A new card, Intersec Defence Solutions Mission Pack, was added and set to Committed. It describes an expansion of Intersec’s contracts in Nyx built around the growing Vanduul threat, with new missions and new blueprints to earn. That is the mission pack now being tested in 4.10.3.
This week: Squadron 42 video, Jump Point and the Daymar Rally
CIG plans to release a Behind the Scenes video of the Squadron 42 October event later in the week, a look at how the hands-on weekend in Manchester went. On Friday October 30 the RSI weekly newsletter goes out by email, and subscribers get the October issue of Jump Point magazine.
Sign-ups are now open for the Daymar Rally, which returns on January 23, 2027. CIG calls it the filthiest race in the ‘verse: more than 510 kilometers of unforgiving terrain across three divisions, run by the community rather than by CIG. If you want in, gather a crew and register through the rally’s sign-up page before the start.

- January 23, 2027: Daymar Rally, sign-ups open now
Loose ends from the October 19 post
The October 19 weekly post was mostly a reminder of what was still running: the Runic store bundle, RSI Discovery Month missions and the Constellation Mk V Centaurus rental, and the Twitch Drops campaign for the Phoenix Insignia Display. Discovery Month has since ended and the Twitch Drops ran until October 27, so if you watched your four hours, claim the drop in your Twitch inventory if you have not already.
Community MVPs for the two weeks were both Centaurus pieces: a wallpaper gallery of the new Constellation by Mordvinov on October 19, and on October 26 a video by HEBRAiST called Is This the Most Star Citizen Ship Ever Made?, a slow flight across the ‘verse in the Centaurus and its Skylark snub fighter.
What this means for new players
Nothing this week changes what to buy or when to start. The Day of the Vara event is the thing to try if you are new: Arena Commander’s Kill Collector mode earns a free Vanduul mask after two rounds and does not require knowing the persistent universe. The Daymar Rally is a January event, so there is time to learn ground vehicles before it; the PTU patch is for experienced testers and will reach everyone when it goes live. Our Star Citizen referral code guide explains how the 50,000 UEC signup bonus works and how to apply code STAR-6WPK-3K56 before you enlist.
