Cloud Imperium Games is targeting the live release of Alpha 4.10.2 this week. That is the headline of its This Week in Star Citizen post for October 5, and it means a new event in the Stanton system and another round of fixes should reach the public servers within days if testing holds.
The same post confirms that Planet Tech V5, the next version of the game’s planet technology, has had its first closed test, and it sets out a busy Wednesday with the monthly report and a roadmap update. Here is what matters for planning your week.
Alpha 4.10.2 is targeting a live release this week
CIG says its teams stayed focused on Alpha 4.10.2 last week and are now targeting its release to LIVE, the public version of the game. The patch brings a new event to Stanton along with more fixes and improvements. CIG tells players to watch Spectrum, its official forum, for updates.
A target is not a promise. The patch has been on the PTU, the Public Test Universe where builds are tried before release, since late September. In its September 28 update CIG said testing would continue with further builds as it made additions, fixed issues and refined the event based on feedback. Bugs go through the Issue Council and feedback through the dedicated Spectrum threads.
Planet Tech V5 has its first test
CIG ran its first Evocati-only Tech Preview of Planet Tech V5 last week. It describes this as the first step toward bringing the new planetary tech into the Persistent Universe, the main open world of Star Citizen.
Evocati is the small, invited group of volunteer testers who see builds first and work under a non-disclosure agreement, so there are no public details of what the test contained. CIG thanked the testers for feedback and performance data and says it wants to open the test to a wider audience soon. No date was given.
10 From the Community starts, and wants questions on professions
The first episode of 10 From the Community, CIG’s new question-and-answer show, came out on Monday. It is titled Missions, Maelstrom and More and features Senior Game Director Rich Tyrer, Creative Director Ian Leyland and Gameplay Engineering Director Karl Chandler. CIG lists the new flight model, Missions 2.0, Maelstrom and AI blades among the topics.
The question thread for the second episode is already open. This time the focus is the future of professions that are in the game today, such as mining, salvaging and crafting.
What the last two weeks of testing covered
The September 28 update fills in what happened before this week. Players tested both the Tech Preview channel and the Alpha 4.10.2 PTU. CIG put its Physicalized Entity Netcode overhaul through a test, said it was encouraged by the early response, and collected notes for further improvement ahead of release in an upcoming update.
Ship Time-to-Kill balancing was part of the same weekend. CIG says its teams are going through the feedback and data as tuning continues, including the modifier that makes AI ships easier to destroy in PvE. The team also attended Bar Citizen Porto and thanked everyone who came.

What this means for new players
If you are about to start, expect a patch during your first week. When Alpha 4.10.2 reaches the live servers the launcher will need to download it, and this is an alpha, so the first day of a new patch can be rougher than the days around it. Orison Relief Support is in its final days, which makes the Stanton event arriving with 4.10.2 the one to plan around. Wednesday’s Roadmap Update is also worth a look, because it is the first since CIG moved Alpha 4.11 to the fourth quarter.
